Most of them are blessed and activated in the Temple or monastery of their creator.
Taking the Earth as witness: Just before his awakening, Śākyamuni, sitting under the Bodhi tree, was attacked by Māra. Fearing to lose his ascendancy over beings dominated by passions, he first sent his armies, whose arrows turned into flowers as soon as the future Buddha looked at them! Greatly vexed, Māra then declared with pride that he owed his distinguished position to the many merits he had accumulated during his previous lives and denied that the future Buddha had as many as him.
The master then touched the earth to prove his unwavering determination to remain there and to take the Earth goddess, Sthāvarā, as witness. She appeared, paid tribute to him by twisting her hair, extracting the water accumulated over the cosmic ages, each time a libation was made during the offerings of the Bodhisattva. This water was so abundant that it carried the armies of Māra away.
