Work by the Belgian painter Karel Wollens (1912-1989).
Oil on canvas - Hand-signed "KWollens".
An early work of the Belgian painter Karel Wollens (Antwerp 1912-1989).
From his early and therefore expressionist period. A still life, presumably from an Antwerp corridor.
Title: "Halve Maan."
He started to study at the Academy of Berchem and the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten of Antwerp at a later age. His role models were mainly Antoon Marstboom, baron Isidore Opsomer and Jozef Vinck.
In his early years he mainly painted landscapes, still lifes and natural scenes.
He mainly used oil on canvas, but occasionally painted on wood as well. He did this more with the older expressionist works.
Framed in a beautiful wooden gold-coloured frame with green touched picked up from the work. Performed by atelier Lucas - Temse.
