King Creole is a 1958 film directed by Michael Curtiz, the fourth film starring Elvis Presley. Presley plays the rebellious Danny Fisher, a role that was written for actor James Dean. The film is based on A Stone for Danny Fisher, a book by Harold Robbins. Presley was granted a sixty-day extension of his military service to complete the film. The film was shot partly on location in New Orleans.
