Mokko Gata a four lobed Tsuba form for Katana or Wakizashi size, with punch marks in the NANAKO ANA.
It is pierced all around the edge, in delicate manner and inset in SUKASHI, with eight openworked MON or Japanese family crests. The detailed carving repeats on the reverse.
The combination of several MON is probably not entirely fortuitous.
This TSUBA has a look of a great strength, and a lightly hammered ground to effect a stone like surface, on the both sides, from the natural folding of the plate.
It is finely worked in SUKASHI, the entire guard has a rustic appearance, the plate is smoothly polished, and sharply carved in brass HIRAZOGAN, a relief inlaid, with accurate details.
