Descrizione
Luigi Corbellini (1901-1968) - Jeune fille à la rose
Olio su tela - Firmato a mano - 1958

Luigi Corbellini studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, then at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. In 1924, he moved to Montmartre in the former studio of Pablo Picasso. That same year, Robert de Rothschild invited him to make the portrait of his daughter. His portrait was so successful that all those invited to admire it asked him to make one of their wife or daughter, or even his own (such as Paul Guerlain).

In 1930, he founded the Montmartre School with Bonnard, Oudot and Viaud.

He exhibited several times in the United States and in Paris (Galerie Durand-Ruel). After the war, he toured the world to present exhibitions.

Today, his works are kept in many museums in France and elsewhere.
