The mosasaurus is a giant aquatic reptile, belonging to the Mosasaurid family, that lived in the Mesozoic. Its sharp, curved teeth, as well as the morphology of its skull, seem to indicate that it was an opportunistic predator, feeding on large fish, turtles, ammonites, other mosasaurs.
Its existence was brief since it is found only in the Maastrichtian, Cretaceous over about 5 million years.
