A very old Chinese store sign from Rangoon mad of lacquered wood.
It was meant to promote a traditional Chinese pharmacy, the text means approximately ‘medicines and medicinal plants for foreigners and bringing fortune’.
The sign is two-sided and therefore had to be hung perpendicularly to the wall.
It comes from the Chinese neighbourhood in Rangoon, circa late 19th century, purchased in situ.
Very hard wood, dense and heavy, 135 cm long, a very decorative object.
In fairly condition for an object this old but with use marks, worn lacquer at the bottom, missing pieces on the edges (see pictures).
It will be carefully packaged and sent by insured mail with track & trace, via Bpost.
