Les images des Saints.
Early impression from the first edition published in Paris by Israël Henriet. Before all rework. From the earlies impression available, a second state while the first before the publishers address of Israël is only known from a few examples (R.R.R.R.)
I have a couple of uncut sheet with wide margins. Original pinholes on top where the series was once bound together with a small rope still visible.
With the watermark 'huchet' showing a post horn as called for by Lieure to be found on these early (first) Paris impressions. Before any rework, before altered titles, before text.
Saint praying in front of a statue and a saint about to be sawn asunder (Sts Simon & Jude's Day, 28 October); bearded saint, reading a book (St Narcissus' Day, 29 October); a soldier throwing his arms on the ground, beheading scenes in the background (St Marcellus' day, 30 October); saint standing with fragments of spiked wheel at his feet (St Quintinus' Day, 31 October).
Some text lines filled in in sepia writing.
