The design and shape perfectly evoke the distinction and elegance of Balzac's clothing, as seen in the metal tip that reproduces the fine-toed shoes worn by the writer. The black precious resin cap and grey tank decorated with fine lines are a tribute to the "chaqué" (cutaway coat), an essential garment for him. He used to use a sumptuously decorated walking stick, which is glimpsed in the platinum clip with turquoise inlay.
Three rings depicting the class structure of France in the 19th century, described in his masterpiece "The Human Comedy": opulent gilt ring of the cap and platinum-plated ring.
