Louis Vuitton made his first "Trianon Flat trunks" in 1860s, and this immediately meant Louis Vuitton's big start.
Louis Vuitton was the first to invent the suitcase with a flat top for easy stacking.
Before the introduction of Vuitton's trunks, round-top trunks were used, mostly to promote water drainage, and these could not be stacked.
It was the grey, flat Vuitton case that made it possible to stack them easily.
Many other case makers later imitated the style and design.
This case from 1867 should not be missing from your collection and is of great historical value. It is in completely original condition and is more than 150 years old.
This one is from the hand of Louis Vuitton himself, who was 37 years old when this case was made.
