Adolphe Jean Lavergne: French school
Lived and worked in Paris, he sculpts with grace and elegance small bronzes, such as the Troubadour, the Charmeur à la Lampe, the Joueur de Croquet, the Charmeur de Lézards, the Joueur de Bilboquet etc. and even a Bonaparte au Grand Saint Bernard, a pretty equestrian figure of the Emperor. He also made numerous busts, inspired by those of Carrier-Belleuse, and a few spelters that completed his collection of small bronze figures. He followed the teaching of François Jouffroy ( Prix de Rome in 1832 ), and exhibited at the Salon from 1863 onwards.
