from MALI an old Iron figure of a DOGON Equestrian. The rider has been forged and fashioned separately from his mount and attached with an iron rivet, This old sculpture is guaranteed to be pre-1950 and could very well be much earlier. An African art artifact from West Africa. Fantastic wavy legs. A form documented on the Yale database. Intact ultrafine woven iron bridle in the left hand, a spear held aloft in the right hand. Uneven patina of surface rust.
