Excellent TIV Statuette of large dimensions, from Nigeria.
Wonderful dark patina.
Height: 48 cm, age-cracks.
The Tiv, whose name originates from their eponymous ancestor, are about two million to live from agriculture and trade, on the banks of the Benue River, in the east of Nigeria.
Tiv statuettes have an elongated form, a rounded head and present scarifications, especially on the corners of the mouth.
