Expressive, full, protection figure of the Congolese YOMBE tribe. This is a double Nkisi Kozo. It is used to protect against witchcraft and mischief in general and is also used in healing. It represents a dog with two heads, looking in the direction of life and in the direction of the underworld. The heads are partly lined with animal skin. In the middle on top, a particularly refined Yombe figure with a protruding cavity sealed with glass on his belly. Inside is a powerful substance called Bilongo. It is put there by a shaman (called Nganga). The many nails are accompanied by spells when hammered into the figurine, giving it its power. The kaolin coloration of the eyes and on top of a protrusion of the head indicate that the owner wants to live in peace but can appeal to special forces in defence if necessary. Between the nails and natural fibres there is still sheep's wool. A red pigment is visible in the serrated beaks. A very complete tribal figurine in good condition.
