Furuya Korin was a key figure in the development of modern Japanese design known as NeoRimpa in the late Meiji period : a stylized and abstracted version of nature based on the aesthetics of the school of Ogata Korin. He was editor of the Japanese design magazine ShinBijutsukai.
Kyoto was the center of high-end Japanese textile design and production
as well as printing from hand-carved woodblocks by skilled artisans. This book is a classic example of zuancho, design idea books for kimono, screens, etc.
