Beautiful 1st edition by LEWIS CAROLL, illustrated by the famous MARGARET W. TARRANT.

The cover has gilt text and a mounted illustration of Tarrant.

The intro page states that there are 48 colour illustrations, including the illustrated endpapers.
The “List of coloured plates” in the book indicates that there are 44 illustrations. (Not counting the 4 illustrations on the endpapers)
This is a misprint and confusing, but the book is ABSOLUTELY COMPLETE.

In my opinion, the illustrations of Margaret Tarrant are the best match for Lewis Caroll's fantasy stories.

The book has 340 numbered pages.

Condition: very good, the illustration on the cover has minor damage.
Otherwise normal signs of use.

Because this is an old children’s book, it is sold as is.
