thin slice of the Seymchan Pallasite with great surface-weight-ratio
In 1967 two iron meteorite masses, have been found in the Magadan district, USSR. These masses have been pure iron; so Seymchan was classified as IIE iron meteorite. Systematic search by meteorite-hunters in the last ten years have produced several more masses, most of them with olivines in the iron matrix, so Seymchan is now official classified as main group Pallasite. Through the unbalanced distribution of the olivine crystals there are still some masses with no olivine, but also masses with more olivine than iron matrix.
