Most of the Cocoon vases are mid Han dynasty and with size 27 x 30 cm. The present lot is very large size and Qin or Early Han dynasty which makes it exceptional and rare on the present market.
The richly ornamentation consists of vermilion scrolls on the rim, and three symmetrical arranged dark red bands divided the body into four panels. The two central panels contain white scrolls. The two panels at the extremities bear a circular “eye” motif.
