Beautiful and ancient Phurbu of shaman Jhakri, Himalayas, Nepal.
The Phurbu is used in healing ceremonies and rituals. During the ritual, the seemingly bewitched shaman points the ritual dagger to a place in the room where the evil spirit is supposed to hide.
This ritual dagger consists of three human-faced masks topped by three characters in an imploring position. The blade:
ends with an iron spike. An interlaced naga is carved on one of the angles of the blade as well as solar and lunar symbols.
Piece of fabric and cotton thread in the centre.
Wonderful brown patina of use with red reflections.
