The 1860 model was the most widely used pistol in the American Civil War. Over 200,000 were manufactured from 1860 to 1873, and 156,000 were manufactured at the end of the war in 1865.
Its serial number is 36691, all the pieces have the same number, year of manufacture 1862.
Bronzing is present on the whole weapon.
Octagonal barrel hallmarked ‘ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW YORK US AMERICA’
The marking ‘COLTS PATENT’ is present on the body.
The cylinder is marked ‘COLTS PATENT No. 6691’ and ‘PATENTED SEPT 10th, 1850’
Walnut grip plates in good condition.
Functional mechanism, very firm spring, with good indexing of the chambers.
Barrels in good condition, not clogged.
Inside of barrel and chambers in very respectable condition, rifling marks clearly visible.
Weapon in very good working order.
