'The book contains ... comic drawings ... the full range of Kyōsai's habitual subjects ... last double page ... animals act out the riotous passage of a festival float. The holy treasure they are transporting is an impression of Kyōsai's 'Intoxicated Demon of painting' ... seal. Cats, rats and badgers are happy, for once, to co-operate.'

' ... Kyosai Suiga (...) can be called the best of Kyosai's illustrated books.'
