A page of a Kammavaca (Burmese bible), in lacquered Latanier Palm, gilded with foil and in Pali manuscript. This page belonged to a book offered by wealthy families to Buddhists in monasteries, when one of their sons took holy orders. These are the transcription of monastic Buddhist texts of the Vinaya.
This page is in very good state of preservation. The gilding and lacquer remain perfect. The exhibition frame of this extract of a Burmese bible is not part of the lot. There is a light lack and abrasion on both angles. Highly decorative object, rich in symbols.
