33 cm, Old and large wooden gaper, copy of the gaper from Amstelveen, now in the Zuiderzeemuseum. These gapers were already used during the golden age on the façade of drugstores and pharmacists to indicate that medicines were being sold. That is why these Gapers always had a foul expression, looked surprised and /or in agony as it they had a toothache or were just looking ill
The first Gapers were all made of wood and carved by a local clog-maker, they were later made of crushed natural stone, plaster and finally of resin or plastic
