A set of matching MENUKI for a size of Japanese KATANA or WAKIZASHI.
This set of MENUKI are worked and shaped like two ox and a deer with his fawn.
TECHNIQUE
Deeply incised and decorated in IROE TAKAZOGAN a high relief inlay, accurate details accented with incrustation of gold.

This is a charming and universal japanese scene, symbolizing carefree youth. The first animal facing ahead, the other with head turned back over the right flank, and maliciously looking at the last one following him.
