Original woodblock print diptych - Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865) - Actors Onoe Kikujirô II as Mukan Tayû Atsumori and Arashi Kichisaburô III as Kumagai Jirô Naozane - Japan - 1852 (Kaei 5), 4th month
Diptych by Utagawa Kunisada (歌川 国貞; 1786 -1865), also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III, 三代 歌川 豊国, depicting actors (Yakusha-e) in a scène from the Kabuki theatre play "Genpei Tsutsuji" performed in the Ichimura-za (市村座) theatre in Edo.
These are actors Onoe Kikujirô II as Mukan Tayû Atsumori (R) and Arashi Kichisaburô III as Kumagai Jirô Naozane (L).

Issued in 1852 (Kaei 5), 4th month, with double nanushi censorship stamps of
Kinugasa and Murata 衣笠、村田 and an oval date stamp.
Condition: quite good condition with restored edge gaps, Nishiki-e (錦絵, "brocade picture") with fairly good colours and a good register (connecting the colour blocks to the mother block).
