Ellsworth Kelly (May 31, 1923 - December 27, 2015) was an American painter, sculptor and engraver associated with avant-garde painting, colour-field painting and minimalism. His works demonstrate unpretentious techniques that emphasize the simplicity of form and bright colours, similar to the work of Josef Albers, Jasper Johns, Frank Stella, John McLaughlin and Kenneth Noland among others. He lived and worked in Spencertown, New York.
