Zoisite ruby is an opaque blend of ruby and zoisite that gives a green and black colour, while ruby has purplish red varieties.
This gemstone, recently discovered in Tanzania, was carved and polished for decoration purposes in the shape of the Hindu god Ganesh, who is the son of Shiva and Parvadi. It is recognized thanks to its elephant head, its divine part. He is highly revered in India for the power of his senses, which capture errors and remove obstacles of ignorance. A very sacred god, he wears a mala, a Hindu chaplet. He is shown sitting with one leg bent, holding a fruit in his left hand and his broken tusk in the other.
