Universal Genève - Polerouter Microtor Cal.215 - Uomo - 1950-1959

The Polerouter has been developed for the SAS Pilots going on the first route flying over the North Pole. It has been designed by the young Gérald Genta, father of the most iconic watches of the 20th century such as the Royal Oak, Nautilus or Constellation. The movement featured an oscillating rotor that did not allow full rotation of the rotor when winding the movement. The term “bumper” refers to the spring loaded stoppers that prevented full rotation of the winding rotor. After 1954, Universal Geneve replaced the cal. 138 SS movement with the 28-jewel Universal Geneve cal. 215 micro rotor automatic movement, which featured a miniaturized oscillating rotor capable full 365 degree rotation.
