An old Iban drum with carved floral decoration.
At the lower part the drum shows a nicely carved band (high: 5 cm) which is a typical carving of floral ornaments which represent bamboo shoots and zig-zag-bands. It was inlaid with some lime which remained partly.
The drumhead's animal skin is glued at the wood and was additional stabilized originally with a braided ring of three striped of sliced bamboo, which is loose now.
The outer surface of the deep brown unstained wood has been nicely worn by former use. This shining patina gives the drum a attractive authentic look. The inner of the drum was originally treaten with fire and shows traces of burning and smoke.
