Rewarding on August 4, 1943.
Award document No. 14701
It is GREAT RARE to see this medal in a museum state, with fully preserved gilding. These medals were worn daily on the chest and repeatedly saved the lives of Soviet soldiers when a bullet hit the medal located on the chest.
The Medal "For the Defence of Leningrad" was a World War II campaign medal of the Soviet Union established on December 22, 1942 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to recognise the valour and hard work of the Soviet civilian and military defenders of Leningrad during the 872-day siege of the city by the German armed forces between September 8, 1941 and January 27, 1944
The lot also includes 4 photocopies of previously unknown moments of the Blockade by fascists of Leningrad, the negatives of which were discovered last year.
