Two lime containers (unused) with very fine stoppers of dark brown wickerwork and yellow orchid fibre from the Massim area (tip of the very South East New Guinea).
The smaller one is decorated by removing only partly the outer dark layer of the gourd. The bigger one has a crack (2,5 cm) at it's mouth (s. picture).
These natural bins were usually used for storing lime, which was mixed together with the betel nut. But these containers show no traces of use.
Size of the bigger one: 20 cm / 7,8 in.
smaller one: 13 cm / 5,1 in.
