Special promotional set with stereo viewer, 3D maps and sound plate.
This set was published by the Stereogram company, which was the initiative of Thijs (M.M.) Chanowski (1930 - 2017). Chanowski started his career in (jazz) music and painting. He was the producer of the first ten episodes of the children's programme De Fabeltjeskrant. Later, he also produced 250 episodes of Paulus de boskabouter and other television series and films. Later Chanowski decided to focus on the development of interactive environments, making important contributions to search processing technologies, design programs for multimedia database systems, and advanced simulation technology for the European Space Program. From 1995 to 2000, Chanowski was professor of Multimedia Interaction at the University of Amsterdam. Since 2005, he has been working on a project to teach young children in third world countries the English language, without using their own language.
Chanowski also used Stereogram to publish the Fabeltjeskrant set with the View-Master viewer, discs and record. And the Moon Landing was displayed in the same way as this promo viewer from the Amsterdam harbour; with plate, viewer and stereo cards.
This special promotional set was made for the harbour association. I have never seen one before.
It is not dated, but I estimate it to be from the late 1960s.
Not only the harbour is promoted, also Amsterdam. The Red Light District was also part of the promotional campaign.
