Roy Thomas (1949-2004), Northwest Ontario, is one of the most important native Ojibway artists. (Ojibway, a nation of Native Americans. They are also called Ojibwe, Anishinaabe or Chippewa).
He was part of the 'Woodland school of Art, Group of 5' (also called ' Anishnaabe School) which was influenced among others by Norval Morrisseau, an Ojibway Indian and member of the 'Indian Group of seven'.
In his works he depicts the relationship between animals, people and the spiritual world and ' the circle of life'.
