This particular release was selected for the now cancelled ‘Finest Whisky Deluxe Berlin’. Bunnahabhain it is Islay distillery famous for the ability of its whiskies to age gracefully for many years - nevertheless 44 years is an incredible feat. Matured in a single re-fill hogshead, just 117 bottles remained and the result is a rich and mouth-coating fruit bomb.
The bottler, Signatory Vintage, is highly respected and has bottled some legendary releases from the greatest Scottish distilleries.
Impressive packaging is an insert providing bottle number and disgorgement date of the 11th of April 2019, under the supervision of Andrew Symington in the Town of Pitlochry. His tasting note describes this whisky as “a beautiful dark gold in colour, the 44 years in cask have created a beautifully rich liquid fruit salad (pineapple, banana, coconut, mango and guava) with a touch of crushed white peppercorns and a whiff of smoke from the charred oak staves. The mouthfeel is rich and expansive and the long finish very satisfying”.
