Very beautiful mingqi. This burial gift stems from the Sui dynasty (581–618 A.D.) and is made of terracotta with a so-called straw-coloured glaze. 'Straw glazed'.
It represents a dignitary or high-ranking officer. The Sui dynasty can be situated right before the Tang dynasty. The burial gifts from this dynasty can often be recognised by their straw-coloured glazing. This statue comes from an old Dutch collection, of which it was part for about 40 years.
