Absolutely original condition!!
The Kwele people live in Shanga region, in the northwestern part of what is now the Republic of Congo. The Kwele used such anchor-shaped iron objects for bride price payments until the 1980s. Before then, even in the early 20th century, the objects, known as mandjong, had also been used to buy goods, in particular rubber and ivory. Like all items handed over for the bride price, the main purpose of mandjong was to store value. They were often buried in the mud of waterfronts or stored carefully packaged above the fire pit. They were only shown in public when they changed hands, and also at weddings.
