An interesting bronze circular openwork mount decorated with Hercules fighting the Nemean Lion.
Hercules's first labor as sent by King Eurystheus, was to kill the Nemean Lion and bring back the skin of a fierce lion that terrorised the hillside around Nemea. Clutching the lion in his arms while strategically avoiding its claws, finally choking it to death.
Nice dark patina with good detail and some light earthy surface deposits. A SCARCE piece.
