Very rare mask of the Kela people living in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
They are a small sub-tribe of Mbole which they share the same Lilwa secret society and whose works are closely related.
The pieces can be regognized by their two-tone bands, in this case red and white.
It emerges from this mask a powerful attraction that impresses with its originality.
The mask has slited eyes.
The layer of red and white pigment and kaolin is a bit crusty.
The inside shows signs of heavy use during many years.
This is an exceptional piece by its quality, its fine condition, its rarity.
