Flintlock rifle model 1777, modified in the year IX:
Total length: 146 cm
Barrel length: 107 cm
Calibre: 17.5 mm
The marking on the breech tail indicates a production of the French Revolution: ‘AN’ for ‘Arme Nationale’.
It is the length of the Dragoon rifle, but the trim is made of iron.
During the revolution, due to the shortage of brass, the trimmings were made of iron (as for pistols).
Flat-bodied lock hallmarked by Saint Etienne.
All metal fittings and iron rod with pear-shaped tip.
Walnut wood butt, with cheek rest, in beautiful condition.
Mechanism in good condition, functional, very firm springs.
Smooth, round cannon, faceted at the bolt, marked ‘AN’ on the tail of the breech.
The barrel is in good condition, thick, not oxidized.
Bayonnet of the available model (see my sales).
