Beautiful antique statue of Saint Margaret of Cortona. Margaret lived in the 13th century. She ran away from home because of her stepmother. She went to live as a concubine with the lord of the castle, by whom she had a child. After his dog returned alone from the hunt, she found the man dead in the forest, murdered by robbers. All this led to her religious conversion. She founded a congregation: the company of penance and repentance. Now she's the patron saint of prostitutes. Despite the age the statue is in good condition, there is just some paint missing here and there. Please take a look at the pictures, which are part of the description.
