A finely carved statue in Coromandel wood of a winged Bali Legong dancer.
The Legong (Keraton) is originally a Balinese dance which was performed by young girls. Special traditional costumes have been made for this dance. The dance consisted of gracious head, eye, hand and finger movements. The Legong is one of the most important dances on Bali. In Balinese art, much attention is given to the Legong dancers by the means of wood carvings.
