1763-1766 model standard cavalry pistol - Maubeuge 2nd type:
Calibre: 17.1 mm
Barrel length: 23 cm
Pistol length: 40.5 cm
1763-1766 (2nd type shorter than the 1st model), flat-bodied flint lock signed ‘M de Maubeuge’ (difficult to read) and hallmarked ‘C S’ under crown (Cousin, inspector at Maubeuge from 1762 to 1782, he hallmarked the 1763-1766 models in 1765).
Hammer with flat body and faceted iron flash pan, bolt and breech tail marked, but barely legible.
Gun with brass trim.
Wood in good condition (healthy with no worm damage) but with some repairs (old cracks and breaks).
The wood retains a beautiful appearance.
Mechanism in good condition, complete and functional, very firm springs.
Please Note: the trigger guard was previously repaired but is very solid, the greenhouse stone has been replaced, the two screws in the trigger guard are new, the spring/pin is not original.
See pictures; I am happy to answer your questions.
Good luck in the auction.
