“Las Meninas” (the bridesmaids) is a series of 58 paintings painted by Pablo Picasso in 1957, reinterpreting the work of Diego Velasquez, “Las Meninas” (1656).
The complete series is kept at the Picasso museum in Barcelona and is the only complete set of the artist kept in one place. It is a very vast study consisting of 45 interpretations of the work, 9 scenes depicting a dove, 3 landscapes, and a portrait of Jacqueline
Picasso himself considered the series as a whole, and passed it as such on to the Museum in Barcelona in May...
