Frans Simon Hoos (1884-1966) - 'Riviergezicht'
Olio su tela - Firmato a mano - 20e eeuw

Hoos was a son of carpenter Dirk Hoos (1857-1920) and Francina van der Burg (1851-1914). Hoos was self-taught as a painter. [1] He painted landscapes, portraits, cityscapes and still lifes along the lines of the Hague School. [2] In his earlier work, the influence of George Hendrik Breitner and Willem de Zwart is clearly visible. Hoos spent several periods in Belgium (Brussels, Boom and Namur) and France (Nancy, among other places), but lived and worked mainly in his hometown of The Hague. In the 1950s, he participated in an exchange program with French artists, in collaboration with the Pulchri Studio.

With a wooden gold-plated frame with signs of wear.
