Kerttu Nurminen. Born in Lahti, Finland in 1943.
Nurminen worked for more than twenty years in the glass factory of Nuutajärvi. She celebrated her 30th anniversary as an artist and is renowned for her unique glass designs and her functional objects. As she is so well versed in glass production techniques, she has also been involved in the development of new techniques. Nurminens big breakthrough came in 1988 when she made the ‘Mondo’ glass work for Iittala. Her work is on display in many museums and collections all over the world. Kerttu Nurminen won the Kaj Franck Prize in 1996.
