Edgar Heirman (Waasmunster 1919-2004) was a Belgian painter and watchmaker. Edgard was not only good at watchmaking and restoring it. He also had a lot of talent as a painter. A first exhibition of his early works was already on display in 1937. Back at the urging of Mayor Lippens, he exhibited this time with none others than Constant Permeke, Servaes and De Saedeleer. Applications for the posing went smoothly in 1937 because this time he got an offer of Minister Heyman, then Mayor of Sint-Niklaas, to do an exhibition in the city museum. This time he would exhibit his paintings but also the study of his astronomical clock: the "Heirman clock". In 1986, Edgard was awarded several titles. From the then Governor De Kinder he received the honorary citizenship of East Flanders. Edgard was appointed Knight in the Order of the Crown by King Baudouin and received the Reinaert award in Sint-Niklaas. At the age of 70 in 1989 he was granted the title of honorary citizenship by the municipal council of Waasmunster. He is mentioned in Belgian art books.
