This is a sterling silver ring by the Danish silversmith Jens Johannes Aagaard (see bio), whose work is usually associated with modern designs. This model, however, is based on rings from the Iron Age (0–400 AD) found in Himlingeøje on Stevns in Denmark, approx. 30 miles south of Copenhagen. A tooling of the so-called snake head rings, coiled metal parts ending in a stylised snake head. Here, the head is represented by only an eye. Condition: excellent, no visible damage. Engravings: 'Jaa 925'. Generally a fantastic piece of Scandinavian design. Marked: 925 and JAa. Insured shipping.
