Ben Viegers (1886-1947) - Veerhuis te Overschie
Olio su tela - Firmato a mano - 20e eeuw

Bernardus Petrus Viegers (1886 – 1947).

Viegers was born in The Hague, the son of a coachman. He learned the art of drawing, mixing paint, decorating and painting in the studio of his grandfather, a carriage builder.

In 1903-1904, he studied at the day course of the academy of fine arts in The Hague. His teacher and later friend was Charles Dankmeijer (1861-1923).

Viegers painted flower still lifes, bulb fields, landscapes, gardens, harbour views, interiors, marines, city scapes, still lifes, beach views and winter landscapes.

In particular, the bright use of colour of the colourist and 'his water' make his work highly sought-after. In the bulb fields and the Concarneau pieces, but certainly also in this work, these characteristics clearly show.

His works are loved by collectors and are on display in various museums.

He died in 1947 in Nunspeet at the age of 60.
