Unique collectors item. Very nice needle box "Walnut on leaf" by W. Avery & Son.

W. Avery & Son were originally needle manufacturers in England during the Victorian era. The company became known for its figural gold-plated brass needle cases, of which the earliest were manufactured between 1871-1873. The storage items were manufactured in the form of bees or butterflies and the like.
This item is the iconic 'Walnut on Leaf' needle case, which was registered in 1873. It is the classic copper walnut on a leaf and opens with a simple clip at the front to reveal a gilded interior.
On the base the default sign for 'W. Avery & Son, Redditch'.
The walnut is in good condition and opens and closes properly.
The lot will be packaged with care and shipped by registered mail.
