Original woodblock print diptych in pastel colours by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) - From 'Picture Book of Souvenirs of Edo (Ehon Edo Miyage), Volume 2' - ca 1851
This woodblock print diptych is originally from Hiroshige's 'souvenirs of Edo'. These are a series of picture books (10 volumes) published in 1850–1867. The attractive designs describe beautiful and well-known places in and around the city of Edo (now Tokyo). The original woodblock prints are from volume 2.
The main picture is a composition of pictures. This in order to provide a good impression of the actual diptych. The individual sheets are still intact.
Measurements per sheet: 18.2 x 12.2 cm
Diptych image dimensions: 22 x 16 cm
The diptych is in good condition. Good impression and the colours are still bright. Some light stains. Some minor worm holes. The original binding holes are still visible. Please view the photos for the details.
